To live by faith (or to do anything by faith) is to be governed by a dependence on God’s grace and a desire for God’s glory. Noah BUILT by faith (Hebrews 11:7). Abraham OBEYED by faith (Hebrews 11:8). Abraham also DIED in faith (Hebrews 11:13). And this is because Abraham’s faith was TESTED (Hebrews 11:17).
To do something in faith is to do it with an acknowledgment of our dependence on God’s grace and the motive of desiring God’s glory.
