Even the Apostle John, when he saw Jesus in his glory, “fell at his feet like a dead man” (Revelation 1:17). However, verse 28 of our text clearly communicates that for those who abide in Christ, the dominant mood will be confidence when Christ appears. So how is this possible? The author to the Hebrews answers this question by saying that we must earnestly imitate those who are promised to inherit salvation through their genuine faith which was evidenced through practical love for the saints. We are not saved by Christ’s work through us, but by Christ’s work for us. However, Christ’s work through us gives us confidence of Christ’s work for us.
