This episode of The Right Response Ministries podcast opens with 2 Corinthians 4:16–18 and discusses “the weight of glory” in connection with masculinity and gravitas. The hosts argue masculinity is ideally learned through embodied example from godly, disciplined men rather than checklists or podcasts, while their episodes aim to describe facets of manhood that must be lived out. They explain the Old Testament Hebrew concept of glory (kavod) as “heaviness” or weight, tied to honoring parents as giving weight to their words, and contrast it with qalal, a curse of being light, weightless, and like chaff. Practical marks of gravitas include steadfastness, disciplined speech, self-control, reliability, confident posture and intonation, and being load-bearing for others. They conclude that suffering for righteousness is what produces this weight and glory, illustrated by Christ’s life, athletic training, and progressively bearing greater burdens.
