Most of us would probably say it is always a sin to mock others. However, in the earthly ministry of Christ we see him frequently utilizing satire and other forms of strong language in order to address his opposition. If we are truly called to imitate Christ, should we seek to imitate this aspect of Christ’s ministry as well?
It’s important that we remember that everyone who rebels against God in this life will not necessarily be miserable in this life, just as everyone who obeys God in this life will not necessarily prosper in this life.
False teaching builds a ministry with poison; the people subjected to it are DECEIVED and DESTROYED. But “watered-down” teaching seeks to build a ministry with nothing at all, neither poison nor nourishment. The people subjected to this kind of ministry are eventually STARVED.
The Bible contains some crazy stuff. We must be careful not exaggerate the truth of any biblical text. However, the more common problem today is that “sophisticated” pastors continually downplay the truth of biblical texts in order to appear “reasonable” in the eyes of the pagans. #IBelieveInNephilim
