Large “program-driven” churches are subtle tyrants, especially towards fathers in the home.
The Church in heaven is “triumphant” and at rest. The Church on earth is “militant” and at war.
Jesus’ death is not merely an example of sacrificial love, and his resurrection is not merely a metaphor of the triumph of the human spirit.
The church needs Scripture, but it also needs an exposition of Scripture. We need this exposition of Scripture in both our preach and our singing. *Don’t mind the sweat. Pastor Joel’s air conditioning went out, and he was preaching up a storm.
For the Christian, the “sting” of death has been removed, but the pain of dying still remains. So what comfort does Christ promise to Christians during the process of dying?
