Natural revelation does not merely address the immoral nature of murder, theft, or deceit. Natural revelation speaks, first and foremost, of God. It is an indictment against the idolatry of all men.
Scripture is clear that God “takes no pleasure in the destruction of the wicked.” However, Scripture also tells us that God mocks the wicked, in the sense that God sees their feeble attempts to cast off his authority and “he who sits in the heavens laughs.” As the people of God, we should seek to imitate God’s holy example.
Idolatry is not merely immoral, it is foolish. When the Bible speaks of those who worship idols it not only describes them as morally wicked, but also stupid. This is because idols are stupid (dumb, blind, deaf, lifeless). And those who worship idols will become like them.
